Wood Preservation
Wood Treatment & Preservation Services in Corpus Christi & South Texas
Is Your Deck Going Soft On You?
There is nothing quite like the panic of stepping onto your back porch and feeling the wood give way beneath your foot. In South Texas, the humidity doesn't just mess up your hair; it wreaks havoc on your home. Moisture, heat, and fungi team up to turn sturdy beams into something resembling wet cardboard.
Wood rot is nature’s way of recycling, but we don't think your home should be part of the compost pile just yet. Elite Exterminating has over 30 years of experience protecting South Texas structures from the elements. We use advanced wood preservation treatments that stop rot in its tracks and turn your timber into something bugs and fungus can’t stomach.

The Invisible Wood Eater
The Silent Destroyer
Everyone worries about termites, but wood decay fungi (dry rot and wet rot) actually destroy more wood annually than fires and storms combined. These microscopic spores land on damp wood and start eating the cellulose that holds the fibers together. Before you know it, a 4x4 post has the structural integrity of a marshmallow.
The South Texas Sauna
Our coastal climate is the perfect breeding ground for these fungi. High humidity and heat accelerate the decay process rapidly. If your crawlspace isn't ventilated or your deck is constantly damp, you are practically serving an all-you-can-eat buffet to wood rot.

Turn Your Timber Into A Fortress
Painting over the problem doesn't work. In fact, paint can trap moisture inside the wood and speed up the rotting process. You need a solution that penetrates deep below the surface.
We utilize specialized borate-based treatments. These mineral salts soak into the raw wood and create a permanent barrier. It makes the wood indigestible to fungi and toxic to wood-destroying insects like powder post beetles and carpenter ants. It is basically a forcefield for your lumber. Once treated, that wood is off the menu for good.
How We Save The Lumber
1. The Poke Test (Inspection)
We crawl into the dark, damp places you avoid. We inspect your pier-and-beam foundation, attic, and decks, probing the wood to find areas of high moisture content and active decay.
2. The Prep Work (Cleaning)
You cannot preserve dirt. We may need to scrape away surface fungi or clean the wood to ensure our treatment can soak in properly. If wood is structurally gone, we will tell you it needs replacing before we treat the rest.
3. The Soak (Application)
We apply a high-concentration mineral preservative solution. This isn't a light misting; we saturate the wood fibers. The solution diffuses deep into the beam, using the wood's own moisture to spread protection throughout the interior.
4. The Seal (Protection)
For exterior surfaces exposed to rain, we may recommend a water-repellent sealer on top to keep the preservative locked in and the rain locked out.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this kill termites?
The treatment we use is highly effective against termites, yes. While this specific service focuses on preservation from rot and beetles, termites hate the taste of treated wood and will die if they eat it.
Can you save wood that is already rotten?
We can stop the rot from spreading, but we cannot turn mush back into solid wood. If a beam has lost its structural integrity, a carpenter needs to replace it. We then treat the new wood to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Is the treatment toxic to my pets?
Borate products are mineral-based and generally considered low-toxicity to mammals (about the same as table salt). However, we always recommend keeping pets away during the application until the wood is dry.
How long does it last?
Because the mineral salts do not break down over time like chemical pesticides, the protection can last for decades as long as the wood is protected from constant running water (which can eventually leach the salts out).
Why not just use pressure-treated wood?
Pressure-treated wood is great, but even the factory treatment only penetrates so far. Over time, cuts, cracks, and age leave the center vulnerable. Our treatment protects the existing wood in your home that wasn't treated or has lost its protection.
Do you treat painted wood?
The wood must be raw for the treatment to penetrate. If the wood is painted or varnished, it must be sanded down first, or we can inject the solution into the wood via drilled holes.
